I hope you’re all well.
Where to start? Well, now that we have to mask up in theatres no-one can claim they have come out “to forget about Covid” and are miffed when I talk about it all evening.
A bit spooky is the first lockdown started in March 2020 just when my previous tour, Get On With It, was finishing up and this time round the measures have come into play the exact week I did break for Christmas.
Turns out there’s an almost 100% correlation between me taking time off work and lockdown and thus I’m happy to announce everything will be back open (again) by February 9th and the next lockdown won’t hit until just before the World Cup in November. Now then, this should help with your forward planning.
Apropos of nothing, let me tell you the tale of the most cost-effective present I ever bought. The year was 1986 and I got my father “Der Unheilige Krieg” bei Gerhard Konzelmann, a book about the civil war in Lebanon, for his birthday in September. By the time Christmas came round he still hadn’t read it so I rewrapped it. By the time next September came round he still hadn’t read it so I rewrapped it again. By the time Christmas came round that year he still hadn’t…this went on for a good 3 or 4 years until he flung the book in the bin.
The moral of the story: if you buy someone a ticket to It’ll All Come Out In The Wash it either goes ahead as planned or if you’re really lucky it gets rescheduled so often it turns into the least costly present ever.
