Dear Friends of German Comedy,
Later this week I’m gigging in Colne. Not Köln am Rhein. Colne. Despite 15 years of extensive travelling all over Britain I’d never heard of the place until it’s come up on my tour schedule. Turns out it’s a sizeable town of 20,000 in Lancashire but crucially without a football team in any of the top seven divisions. If it had, people all over the country would be as aware of Colne as they are of Nantwich, Alfreton, Brackley and Fleetwood.
If anyone ever asks you what good having a football club does a town…well, for starters it puts it on the map! Plus all the excitement of having something to look forward to every weekend!
In football-related investment news I can report Jeremy Corbyn is 14-1 to become next Prime Minister and Costa Rica who are well on course for qualification are 500-1 to win the next World Cup. Surely Costa Rica winning isn’t 35 times more unlikely than Labour winning. Nothing is.
Have a great month and support your local team! I’m off looking for a bookie who accepts each-way bets on the general election.
Henning
PS Please find below a list of upcoming gigs. It would be great to see you at one of those. Please note new dates get added regularly.
